Hospital district board hears CEO, facility updates
Editor’s note: The Midland County Hospital District does not release its Board of Trustees meeting minutes until the board approves them at the following meeting. As a result, The Permian Press could not access the Oct. 30 minutes until after the Dec. 18 meeting. There was no meeting held in November.
What happened: The Midland County Hospital District Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, Oct. 30, to receive updates on patient safety and nursing, review audit results, and hear from leadership on facility planning and quality improvements.
Key points:
- Patient safety and quality: Hospital leadership reviewed recent quality and patient safety scorecards, outlining how the system is tracking outcomes and identifying areas for improvement. Nursing leadership also presented its semi-annual report, highlighting staffing and care-delivery trends from the fall.
- Audit oversight: The board reviewed its annual audit committee report, which included investigation logs and updates on audits in progress.
- Marketing and public outreach: Hospital staff reported that October marketing efforts focused on promoting the Breast Center and the importance of mammograms. Additional digital campaigns supported orthopedic services, cancer screening, and specialty clinics. Leadership also noted upcoming work on reputation management tools and plans to launch a podcast.
- CEO update: Hospital President and CEO Stephen Bowerman told the board the system is ending the fiscal year in a strong position. The long-term facility plan remains on schedule and within budget. A Physician Advisory Council was recently formed to give doctors a formal role in identifying concerns and recommending improvements. The council will provide regular updates to the board.
