What happened: Midland Classical fell 49–46 to Borden County (10–9 overall) in a closely contested non-district game Friday, Dec. 19th. The loss moved the Lady Knights to 11–9 overall. Mariah Davis led all scorers with 26 points as MCA remained within one possession throughout the second half.

The big picture: The game stayed tight from the opening quarter. Borden County held an 11–10 edge after the first period before MCA took a 29–24 lead into halftime behind consistent scoring from Davis and McKinlee Miller.

MCA continued to limit Borden County’s scoring in the third quarter, holding the Coyotes to four points while extending the lead to 37–33. The teams traded baskets in the final period, but Borden County closed out the game to secure the three-point win.
