What to know: The Midland County Utility District (MCUD) will hold four public information meetings beginning Tuesday, Sept. 29, including a Saturday tour of its water treatment plant. The meetings come as the district prepares for its Nov. 3 election on a $299 million bond to begin expanding public water service across portions of rural Midland County.

Editor’s note: MCUD is not part of the Midland County government. It is a voter-created, taxpayer-supported public utility district.

The big picture: MCUD will hold community meetings from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29; Wednesday, Sept. 30; and Thursday, Oct. 1 at Greenwood ISD’s James R. Brooks Middle School, 2511 FM 1379. Residents and property owners in the district can attend to hear updates from MCUD and ask questions about the district and its water plans.

MCUD will hold a fourth meeting from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at the district’s water treatment plant, 2418 S. County Road 1140. In addition to receiving updates and asking questions, attendees can tour the facility and see the infrastructure that provides water service.
