What to watch: Midland comes together Saturday, Sept. 6, for the Tall City 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. The event honors the 411 first responders who gave their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, followed by a downtown concert celebrating Midland’s first responders.

Why it matters: The stair climb offers a physical and symbolic tribute to courage and sacrifice. “We climb because they climbed.” Civilians and first responders step in remembrance, keeping the promise to never forget those who ran toward danger.

The big picture: The morning begins with the stair climb at Astound Broadband Stadium, where participants honor the heroes of 9/11. Later, Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen headline the “Hold My Beer and Watch This” tour at Centennial Park. By taking part in either or both events, the community honors past sacrifices while supporting those who protect Midland today.

Go deeper: Both events are open to the public. Attendees can participate in the moving stair climb, then gather downtown to share stories and celebrate today’s first responders. Evening festivities include live music, food, drinks, and kid-friendly activities.
