What happened: The Midland Bulldogs went 0-4 at the Byron Johnston Holiday Classic from Monday, Dec. 29, through Wednesday, Dec. 31, dropping their overall record to 7–13. They fell to Presidio (13–9 overall), Hanks (9–11 overall), Weatherford (16–6 overall), and Eastlake (18–6 overall).
The big picture:
- Game 1: Midland 53, Presidio 73
Midland fell behind early, trailing 18–5 after the first quarter. The Bulldogs chipped away in the second quarter, cutting the halftime deficit to 34–24. Midland closed the third with 37 points but could not overcome Presidio’s lead. MJ Washington led the Bulldogs with 15 points, followed by Gedriel Luquis with 12. Alvin Salazer and Ruben Galindo led Presidio with 14 points each, with Mucio Rey chipping in 12.
