What happened: The Midland College Board of Trustees met on Jan. 20 and heard a program update from Respiratory Care leadership.

Key points:

  • Respiratory Care: College staff presented improvements to the college’s Respiratory Care program. Updates included changes to the application process, stronger recruitment and advising efforts, improved retention practices, and closer alignment between curriculum, clinical training, and accreditation requirements.

Applications have increased significantly over the past five years, rising from 15 to 81. Enrollment and graduates have grown accordingly. Board exam success rates and graduate placement remain strong, with most students securing jobs locally. College officials said the program plays an important role in meeting workforce needs at regional hospitals.
