What to watch: The Midland Downtown Farmers Market is hosting their first nighttime market this Saturday, Dec. 20, from 6-9 p.m. This new event will feature holiday festivities, including Santa and Mrs. Claus, the Grinch, free face painting and hot cocoa, live music by Al Haney, and the market’s usual attractions. There will also be an ugly sweater contest for kids, adults, and pets alike.  The market is located at 404 N. Colorado St.

The big picture: For nearly two decades, the Midland Downtown Farmers Market has brought fresh produce, homemade goods, artisan products, and community energy to Midland nearly every Saturday morning. In response to city support and community interest, the market is now testing nighttime markets on select dates from December 2025 through March 2026 as part of an expanded community experience.

Go deeper: The decision to approve evening markets came after a unanimous vote by the Midland City Council. The downtown setting near Centennial Park positions the market as part of a broader effort to make Midland’s core a lively gathering place year-round. The market will also be open during its usual Saturday morning hours, from 9 am to noon.
