What happened: Legacy came up short in a 16-28 loss to Euless Trinity on Friday, Sept. 5. The Rebels found success through the air but couldn’t close the gap in the second half. The loss dropped Legacy to 0–2 on the season. The Rebels’ balanced effort on offense and a strong defensive showing provided several bright spots to build on early in the year.

Go deeper: Junior quarterback JP Reyes completed 11 of 26 passes for 200 yards and one touchdown. Senior Nic Moore led the way on the ground with 30 rushing yards and one touchdown, while also adding 76 receiving yards on three catches. Sophomore J. Anders caught a 27-yard touchdown, and junior Hayes Hamm contributed 82 total yards between rushing and receiving.

Defensively, Trey Jefferson and David Ihediwa each finished with 13 tackles, leading a group that recorded 88 total tackles and five tackles for loss. Jefferson and Gabriel Henry each picked off a pass, helping keep Legacy within reach. Legacy totaled 231 yards of offense, including 200 through the air. Senior kicker S. Verastegui connected on both a 32-yard field goal and an extra point.

What’s next: Legacy will look to bounce back on Friday, Sept. 12, in its next matchup on the road against Lake Travis as the Rebels continue non-district play before opening their district schedule later this month.
