What happened: Legacy Rebels track and field put together a strong 2026 season. The boys captured the Region I-6A Area Championship, marking the program’s seventh title, while both the boys’ and girls’ teams secured district championships, with multiple standout performances across UIL Class 6A competition.

The big picture: On the girls’ side, Iyana Smith led the sprint group with an 11.94 in the 100m and a 25.18 in the 200m, while also holding program records in both events. Skye Lopez added a 56.35 in the 400m, and Sophia Kincaid posted a 2:22.39 in the 800m. Abigail Hinojosa ran a 5:31.23 1600m, and Maia Gordillo ran a 12:44.45 in the 3200m. The girls’ relay teams delivered 47.44 in the 4×100, 1:41.60 in the 4×200, and 4:05.09 in the 4×400.

In field events, Madison Gonzales led with a 132-0 in discus and a 44-5.50 in shot put, while Cayzli Wilson had a 17-6.50 in the long jump, Gabriela Gutierrez had a 35-10 triple jump, and Demaya Douglas had a 5-2 high jump. Nicole Gibson scored a 16.75 in the 100m hurdles, and Sophia Childerson had a 51.02 in the 300m hurdles.

On the boys’ side, Caden Ellis led the sprint group with a 10.36 in the 100m, while Nick Moore posted a 21.43 in the 200m, a 23-2 long jump, and 47-8 triple jump. Masseye Diop ran a 13.84 in the 110m hurdles and 38.55 in the 300m hurdles, while Jaime Arreola anchored the distance group with a 4:26.28 in the 1600m and a 9:51.42 in the 3200m.

The boys’ relay teams also stood out with times of 40.74 in the 4×100, 1:25.08 in the 4×200, and 3:21.88 in the 4×400. In field events, Ja’Varion Starling cleared 6-6 in the high jump, Braydon Haas threw 149-11 in discus, Brady Wheeler cleared 13-0 in pole vault, and Dylan Walters posted a 57-2.50 in shot put.

What’s next: The Rebels will continue their postseason at the regional level, with athletes competing for spots at the UIL Class 6A state meet.
