What happened: Midland ISD celebrated six Legacy student-athletes on Wednesday, May 13, during a National Letter of Intent signing ceremony, recognizing athletes continuing their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.

Legacy’s signees included:

  • Evis Bobey — Football — The University of Texas Permian Basin
  • Ben Cano — Football — Wayland Baptist University
  • Masseye Diop — Track and Field — University of Houston
  • Cisco Rodriguez — Baseball — Cisco College
  • Harlem Brown — Football — Sul Ross State University
  • Kambri Bradley — Cheer — Angelo State University

What they’re saying: “We are extremely proud of these student-athletes for their commitment to play at the next level,” MISD Director of Athletics Amanda Lopez said. “We have enjoyed watching and cheering on these student-athletes throughout their time at LHS and wish them the best as they move forward to their next chapter.”

“Signing to compete at the collegiate level represents years of commitment not only in competition but also in the classroom,” Executive Director of Athletics Wes Torres said.

Go deeper: Diop helped lead Legacy track and field this spring and is preparing to compete at the UIL State Track and Field Championships after the Rebels’ 4×200 relay broke regional meet records and ranked among the top relay teams in Texas.
