Early voting ends with over 32,000 Midland votes casts
What to know: Early voting concluded in Midland County on Friday. Midlander’s recorded 32,112 votes according to the County Elections Office’s daily voter count. That’s up by over 6,000 from 2022 (the last midterm).
The big picture: Midland is at a high turnout for early voting in a non-presidential cycle. In the 2024 election 46,311 people voted early. In what is expected to be a close election, the total turnout will likely play a significant part. Midland has its own important state and national races as there are contested races for incumbents August Pfluger (US House Rep since 2021), Tom Craddick (Texas House Rep since 1969), and Kevin Sparks (Texas Senate since 2022).
By the numbers: The Elections Office (County Annex on A St) was the most popular voting spot with 33% of votes cast there and the Centennial library the second most popular spot with 28% of the votes cast. Mail in ballots were the smallest with 750 cast, only making up 2% of early votes and the remaining 3 spots roughly equally sharing the remainder third of the ballots cast.
What’s next: Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Locations and hours are posted on the Midland County Elections website. There are 20 locations to vote at and voting will run from 7am to 7pm. This will be the final chance to vote in the 2026 November general election.
