What to watch: H-E-B will host its 24th annual Feast of Sharing in Midland on Friday, Nov. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Midland County Horseshoe Pavilion, 2514 Arena Trail. The free event is open to the public and is expected to serve more than 7,000 people.
Why it matters: The Feast of Sharing began in 1989 and has grown into a series of free holiday dinners that serve more than 340,000 meals across 34 cities in Texas and Mexico each year. Midland is beginning the chain of Feast of Sharing events for the second year in a row.
The big picture: H-E-B’s mobile kitchen will serve a traditional turkey dinner with holiday sides. Guests can also enjoy live music from local artists, children’s activities, arts and crafts, and a resource fair with local nonprofits. The event is designed for all ages. This year H-E-B is also partnering with EZ Rider to offer free transportation to the Horseshoe.
Go deeper: Ahead of the main event, H-E-B partnered with Senior Life Midland to include homebound seniors. On Wednesday, H-E-B Partners helped prepare and package 700 meals that were delivered through the organization’s Meals on Wheels program. Volunteers also conducted wellness checks and short visits. Senior Life Midland has named a Meals on Wheels route in honor of H-E-B in recognition of the ongoing partnership.
What’s next: Everyone is welcome to come and eat or lend a hand. Volunteers are still needed to help serve meals and assist with the event. Sign-up information is available through H-E-B’s Feast of Sharing calendar page. The dinner is free and no tickets or reservations are required.
