Lady Mustangs stun No. 14 Seminole in overtime upset

What happened: Midland Christian earned a 45–44 overtime win Tuesday, Dec. 16, over Seminole, handing the Maidens their second loss of the season in a major non-district upset. Seminole entered the game ranked No. 14 in Texas and No. 2 in Class 4A. The win moved the Lady Mustangs to 10–5 overall while Seminole dropped to 14–2.
The big picture: Midland Christian and Seminole traded narrow leads through four quarters before the game spilled into overtime. Midland Christian trailed 16–12 after the first quarter, led 27–22 at halftime, and held a 34–32 advantage after the third. Regulation ended tied 41–41.
In overtime, Jordan Stokes scored early to give Midland Christian a 43–41 lead before Seminole responded with an and-one to go ahead 44–43 with eight seconds remaining. After a final timeout, senior Mallory West scored the game-winning layup with time winding down. The Lady Mustangs held defensively for the final 2.8 seconds to secure the win.
Jordan Stokes led the Lady Mustangs with 19 points, knocking down three 3-pointers, while Selah Fox added 12 points on four 3-pointers.
