Lady Mustangs top Southwest Christian, move to 2–0 in district
What happened: Midland Christian earned a 41–27 home win over Southwest Christian on Saturday, Jan. 3, in district play. The victory moved the Lady Mustangs to 18–6 overall and 2–0 in district play, while Southwest Christian fell to 19–5 overall and 2–1 in district play.
The big picture: Midland Christian set the tone early, opening the game with a 3-pointer from Jordan Stokes and scoring inside through Lauren Alvizo and Jordyn Hamilton. The Lady Mustangs added separation in the second quarter when Addi Tatsch knocked down a corner 3-pointer, followed by another three from Alvizo, giving Midland Christian a comfortable lead heading into halftime.
The Lady Mustangs continued to build the margin after the break, leaning on trips to the free-throw line in the second half. Stokes scored nine points after halftime, seven coming at the line, while Selah Fox added eight points, including five free throws. The steady scoring allowed Midland Christian to extend the lead and close out its second district win.
