Late rally sends Lady Bulldogs to loss against Permian

What happened: Midland lost to Odessa Permian 37–47 in a district home game on Tuesday, Jan. 13. The loss moves Midland to 14–10 overall and 0–2 in district play, while Permian improves to 24–4 overall and 2–0 in district.
The big picture: Midland jumped out in the first quarter with an 18–7 lead. Permian responded in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 9–8 and cutting the deficit to 26–16 at halftime. The Lady Panthers picked it up in the third quarter, outscoring Midland 14–5. The Lady Bulldogs maintained a slim 31–30 advantage heading into the fourth, but Permian outscored Midland 17–6 to secure the win.
What’s next: Midland will play cross-town rival Legacy (17–8 overall, 1–1 in district) on Friday, Jan. 16, for a district matchup with tipoff at 6 p.m.
