Why it matters: The opening brings a Texas favorite closer to home. This new opening saves barbecue fans a trip to Lubbock or beyond for Rudy’s familiar flavors. At the same time, it gives the community a new spot to enjoy good food and convenience.

The big picture: Known for its counter-service and no-frills style, Rudy’s offers spacious dining for families, celebrations, and simple dining alike. The new Midland location continues Rudy’s tradition of pairing a country store with its pit-smoked meats. In addition, Rudy’s carries on its traditional fundraiser, where proceeds from branded drink cups support local nonprofits. This month, all proceeds go towards Texas flood relief.
