What happened: The Midland Christian Lady Mustangs closed out their 2025 season with grit, teamwork, and determination. They finished 21–21 overall and 10–4 in TAPPS 5A District 1, placing third in one of the state’s toughest districts. In addition, the team built momentum late in the season, winning six straight matches to finish strong.

The big picture: Midland Christian faced tough early opponents, including Fort Worth All Saints Episcopal and Southwest Christian. However, they consistently improved in communication, serving, and net play. In district action, the Lady Mustangs claimed important wins over Coram Deo Academy (3–0), Grapevine Faith Christian (3–1), and Lubbock Trinity Christian (3–0).

After that, back-to-back sweeps against Grace Prep and Fort Worth Christian highlighted their late-season surge. Meanwhile, senior leadership helped maintain team focus. Each match reflected growing chemistry, confidence, and skill.

Go deeper: The Lady Mustangs opened postseason play with a 3–0 victory over Hyde Park. Sarah Shepard led the team with 19 kills, 5 aces, and 8 digs. In addition, Jordyn Hamilton added 12 kills and 10 digs, while Addi Tatsch contributed 9 kills. Katelyn Philley distributed 33 assists and added digs and aces. Finally, Lilli Gurule anchored the back row with 17 digs, and Kensy Thon added four kills.

In the second-round playoff match, Midland Christian faced Southwest Christian, the district’s top seed. Although they lost 0-3 (24-26, 23-25, 12-25), the Lady Mustangs remained competitive through the first two sets. Their rallies stayed alive, and their energy never wavered. As a result, their teamwork and resilience reflected the season’s growth.

What they’re saying: “This season had its ups and downs, but I believe we were peaking at the perfect time,” senior Sarah Shepard said. “When we play together, it feels like we’re unstoppable.”

“We went in with 100% confidence and gave it everything we had,” senior Addi Tatsch added. “I’m really proud of this team and how far we’ve come.”

What’s next: Midland Christian volleyball’s 2025 season was defined by perseverance, teamwork, and growth. Seniors provided leadership, while younger players contributed energy and skill. Moreover, the Lady Mustangs finished third in district and gained valuable experience. With returning players and a culture built on effort and belief, the team is well-positioned for future success.
