What happened: Midland High baseball closed the 2026 season with a 32-7 overall record, 13-2 in district play, and a run to the UIL 6A regional semifinals before falling to Dallas Jesuit in a two-game series. The Bulldogs finished the year ranked No. 21 nationally and No. 11 in Texas after one of the strongest seasons in program history.
On Saturday, May 16, Midland fell to Dallas Jesuit (30-7-2 overall) 10-2 in the first game, and 3-2 in a tight second game. In the bi-district round, the Bulldogs swept El Paso Eastwood 3-1 and 5-1 before sweeping Southlake Carroll 3-2 and 3-0 in the area round. Across those four playoff games, Midland allowed only four total runs.
The big picture: The Bulldogs outscored opponents throughout the year and produced multiple dominant wins, including 25-1 over Lubbock Liberty, 22-5 over Legacy, and consecutive shutouts against Odessa and San Angelo Central. Their double-digit performances also included 17 runs against Stony Point and 22 against Midland Legacy.
After opening district play 1-2 against Frenship, Midland responded by winning its final 12 district games, sweeping Odessa, San Angelo Central, Legacy, and Permian during that stretch. Midland finished 14-2 at home and 12-2 on the road.
