What to watch: The Bush Family Home Visitor Center is launching Kids Reading to Dogs on Saturday, Sept. 20. Curl up with a book and read to adoptable dogs from Grand Companions.

The big picture: Inspired by the “Kids Reading to Kids” program, this event makes reading fun by giving kids a furry audience. Bring a favorite book or choose one from Robin’s Reading Room to read and keep. Little ones who aren’t reading yet are welcome too. This event is a playful, all-ages way to enjoy books and pets together.

Go deeper: Kids Reading to Dogs takes place Sept. 20 from 1–3 p.m. The dogs are provided by Grand Companions, a local pet adoption nonprofit that promotes responsible pet ownership. Adoption and fostering information will be available at both sessions.
