What happened: Midland Legacy went on the road to face perennial power Lake Travis on Friday, Sept. 12, falling 13-59 but showing persistence on both sides of the ball. The Rebels moved to 0–3 on the season, continuing a challenging non-district schedule designed to test them early. Despite the final score, Legacy’s offense found its rhythm at key moments, and the defense forced Lake Travis to earn its points.

Go deeper: Junior running back Hayes Hamm was the heart of the offense, rushing for 116 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries and adding 16 receiving yards. His steady production helped keep the Rebels moving against a tough defensive front.

Sophomore J. Anders provided one of the night’s biggest highlights with a 36-yard touchdown reception, showcasing the Rebels’ ability to stretch the field. Quarterbacks JP Reyes and Cash Tranum combined for 101 passing yards and two touchdowns, keeping the offense balanced.

On defense, David Ihediwa led the way with eight tackles and a sack, while senior O. Oladiran added seven solo tackles to help contain the Cavaliers’ explosive offense. Senior M. Rogers also chipped in six total tackles, giving the Rebels a strong showing from their front seven.

By the numbers: Legacy totaled 226 yards of offense, including 125 on the ground. Hamm accounted for over half of the team’s total yardage, marking his second straight 100-yard rushing performance. Reyes and Tranum each threw for a touchdown, connecting with Anders and Hamm for scores.

What’s next: Midland Legacy returns home Friday, Sept. 19, to take on the Abilene Eagles.
