What happened: The Midland High Lady Bulldogs opened the Class 6A state playoffs tonight, sweeping El Paso Franklin 3–0 (25–10, 25–13, 25–14). The bi-district match took place at Midland High and ended in dominance as the Bulldogs controlled all three sets.

Midland improved to 35–8 overall and advanced in the 2025 UIL Texas Volleyball State Championships – 6A Division I bracket. The Bulldogs, 9–1 in district play, entered the postseason as district champions riding a strong nine-match winning streak.

Go deeper: Midland controlled the match from start to finish with aggressive serving, steady defense, and quick offensive transitions throughout. The Bulldogs outscored Franklin 75–37, holding the Cougars under 15 points in every set during the three-set sweep. Franklin’s offense never found rhythm, as Midland’s clean passing and front-row consistency dictated pace from the opening serve.
