What happened: Legacy pulled out a 42–36 win over Midland in a district crosstown rivalry game Friday, Jan. 16. The victory lifted the Lady Rebels to 18–8 overall and 2–1 in district play, while the Lady Bulldogs fell to 14–11 overall and 0–3 in district.

The big picture: Legacy limited Midland to six points in the first quarter to take a 9–6 lead, then tightened further in the second quarter, holding the Lady Bulldogs to just four points while building a 21–10 halftime advantage.

Midland showed resilience coming out of the break. The Lady Bulldogs chipped away in the third quarter, but the Lady Rebels maintained control and carried a 27–16 lead into the fourth.

The game turned tense in the final period. Midland mounted a late rally, erupting for 20 fourth-quarter points to pull within striking distance. Legacy answered each push, scoring 15 points of its own down the stretch to hold off the comeback and secure the 42–36 rivalry win.

What’s next: Legacy hosts San Angelo Central (19–7 overall, 1–2 district) on Tuesday, Jan. 20, with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m. Midland travels to Odessa (15–11 overall, 0–3 district) on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m.
