Mariah Davis pours in 41 as Lady Knights roll past Trinity

What happened: Midland Classical opened district play with a decisive 66–22 win over cross-town rival Trinity on Tuesday, Jan. 6. The victory moved the Lady Knights to 13–10 overall and 1-0 in district, while the Lady Chargers dropped to 7–5 overall and 0-1 in district. UTPB-bound Mariah Davis led Midland Classical with 41 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 steals.
The big picture: Midland Classical controlled the game from the opening tip and never relinquished the lead, jumping out to a 13–1 lead after the first quarter and continuing to separate in the second, outscoring Trinity 21–8 to take a 34–9 advantage into halftime.
Trinity struggled to find consistent offense as the Lady Knights maintained control after the break, extending the margin to 46–17 in the third quarter. Midland Classical closed the game by outscoring Trinity 20–5 in the final period to secure the rivalry win.
