Lady Mustangs go 3–1, finish second at Kristen Corbin Classic

What happened: The Midland Christian Lady Mustangs went 3–1 at the Kristen Corbin Classic in Andrews, finishing second overall and moving their record to 9–5. Midland Christian opened tournament play with back-to-back wins on Thursday, Dec. 11, before advancing to the championship game with a Friday, Dec. 12, victory. The Lady Mustangs fell to Wall (16-2 overall) in the title game Saturday, Dec. 13.
Jordyn Hamilton led Midland Christian throughout tournament play, pacing the team in multiple games and providing consistent scoring and pressure. Jordan Stokes returned from injury and made an immediate impact, while Selah Fox and Lauren Alvizo added steady production across the floor.
The big picture:
- Game 1: Midland Christian 69, Midland Trinity 15
Midland Christian with a dominant win over Trinity (6-4 overall). The Lady Mustangs jumped out to a 26–0 first-quarter lead and carried a 46–8 advantage into halftime. Jordyn Hamilton led all scorers with 23 points, followed by Addi Tatsch with 14 and Selah Fox with 10.
- Game 2: Midland Christian 45, Levelland 38
Later Thursday, Midland Christian earned a hard-fought win over Levelland (14-4 overall). The Lady Mustangs led 19–17 at halftime and closed the game with strong second-half defense. Hamilton scored 14 points. Midland Christian battled foul trouble throughout, finishing 9-for-13 from the free-throw line. Levelland was led by Presley Smith with 13 points.
- Game 3: Midland Christian 58, Andrews 39
Friday night, Midland Christian controlled play against host Andrews (6-9 overall), taking a 35–18 halftime lead and never looking back. Hamilton led with 17 points, while Selah Fox added 10. The win advanced the Lady Mustangs to the championship game. Danlee Fisher led Andrews with 19 points.
- Game 4: Wall 44, Midland Christian 34
In Saturday’s championship game, Midland Christian trailed 24–12 at halftime and fought back in the second but fell to Wall (16-2 overall). Hamilton again led the Lady Mustangs with 13 points,. Wall was paced by Kenzzie Covert with 16 points.
