Lady Bulldogs go 3–1, take third at Byron Johnston

What happened: Midland claimed third place in the Byron Johnston Holiday Classic in Midland, going 3-1 from Monday, Dec. 29, through Wednesday, Dec. 31, moving their overall record to 13-7. They earned wins over Abilene Cooper (3-20 overall), Amarillo Caprock (10-11 overall), and El Paso Pebble Hills (9-11 overall). The Lady Bulldogs dropped a one-point game to Burleson Centennial (13-10 overall).
The big picture:
- Game 1: Midland 84, Cooper 33
- Game 2: Centennial 46, Midland 45
Centennial built an early advantage, outscoring Midland 24–16 across the first two quarters. The Lady Bulldogs responded after the break, outscoring Centennial 18-14 in the third to pull within four, 38–34, entering the fourth quarter. Midland continued its push in the final period, outscoring Centennial 11-8, but the Lady Spartans held on for the win.
